I was a lil surprised to be hearing these type of rattling noises on a Lexus on start up, only happens when I go to start the vehicle. I do hope they can fix the problem.     Oct 31, 2016 · I don't seem to notice the noise when the motor is cold, more so when the engine is warmed up. I'll admit that I'm new to LS motors, and from what i gather they can kind of be noisy, and it totally normal. If i had to compare the noise to anything id say it sounds like a lifter noise.     Oct 06, 2006 · What I am worried about is if the oil FEED in this area is blocked, which is why the lifters did not pump up. HOWEVER when I used a tool in the dist hole after I put the rollers in, I DID get oil at EVERY rocker. Many I'm a bit confused and frustrated. Both lifters are pretty badly cupped, and chewed up on the outer edge.

    The AFM lifter bores in these engines have a spec of .843-.844, and the deactivation lifters require 22 PSI of pressure to release the locking pins. Taking these two things into consideration a lifter bore that is even slightly worn could bleed off enough oil pressure to prevent the lifter from unlocking.

    I would suggest synthetic oil but i do not believe it will help your noise. The noise in the 4.8, 5.3, and some 6.0 engines is the smae noise the firebirds and camaro's had when the 5.7 LS1 was new and it is PISTON SLAP. All these motors use next generation hypereutic pistons.
